Modern information technology taking multimedia and network technology as the core, has not only brought extensive and far-reaching impact to our social life,but also penetrated all aspects of education. Modern information technology has become a driving force for reform of educati

The application of modern education technology in teaching has changed the original teaching mode, and multimedia technology brought into junior high school English teaching has been a great change in teaching. Multimedia teaching has the advantages that traditional teaching metho
9、ds cant match, while there are also limitations. How to make full use of computer multimedia technology, play the initiative and creativity of students, and promote the development of education so as to achieve better learning outcomes as well as improve the efficiency of students learning are the c
10、urrent problems in study.Key words:modern information technology; junior high school English teaching; the English teacher; application1 Introduction1.1 Background and significance of the studyWith Chinas growing openness to the outside world and the speeding pace of the integration of worlds politi
11、c and economy, especially after China joining the WTO and convening the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. English, as the global language in international communication and cooperation, whose function as a tool appeared more and more obvious. Therefore, good English literacy is the essential and basic cha
12、racter of the future citizens. With the rapid development of science and technology of todays world and the endless emergence of information technology, multimedia and network technology as the representative modern information technology has penetrated into all aspects of education. Early in July,
13、2001, the national Ministry of Education promulgated Elementary education Curriculum Reformed Summary ( proof editions)which puts forward :strongly push forward the universal application of information technology in the teaching process and promote the integration of information technology and acade
14、mics course, gradually carry out the revolution of the ways of presenting content of course ,studying method, teaching method and the interactive mode between teachers and the students , well develop the advantages of information technology and provide abundant and colorful education environment and
15、 powerful study tools for the students studies and development, which means that the teacher needs to availably make use of information technology during the teaching. Junior high school students love talking and playing and are good at mimicry, and they has strong memory and competitive consciousne
16、ss and expression at the age of 12 to 15. Making use of modern information technology which give priority to the multimedia and the network technology in the English teaching of junior high school to design and develop abundant and colorful classroom communicative activities is advantageous to stude
17、nts learning and practicing, attaining to the goal of linking what we learn with practice, which guides students in their study and make the language material learned able to acquire consolidation and exaltation in the usage.1.2 Domestic and international situation of the researchThe research that v
18、ia making use of an information technology to enhance the classroom efficiency in the English teaching is a trend of curriculum reform in the world nowadays, and is also the objective request of further deepening quality-oriented education. Every application of the information technology in English
19、teaching have expanded the depth and width of the information, thus have enlarged the spreading space of information.1.2.1 Overseas Research Status Information technology in the application of foreign language teaching has a long history. Venezky & Osin (1991) divided it into four stages: the Age of
20、 the Engineers (late 1950-1961), the Age of Acronyms (1962-1967),the Age of the Titans (1967-1977) and the Age of Small Wonders (1977-1991). However, after the emergence of network at the beginning of 1990s, the fifth period came into being: the Age of Connectivity or Internet Assisted Language Lear
21、ning(Erizler, 1997) “. Many nations and regions attach importance to the influence and function of information technology on the education in the world.Famous2061 plans(Projecc2061) United States started in 1985 , putting forward a thought that information technology on higher layer should mutually
22、integrate with each academic. Canada is also loath to lag behind in this realm, in February 1998, information technology report of school district in Vancouver pointed out: “the information technology can establish a study environment focusing on the language learner, and teachers act as guides, whi
23、ch as well as contacts the extensive community . According to a report, there was a high school that carried out paperless teaching in Boston City in the United States whose students no longer used textbooks originally. In 2008, every student of this high school on the first day of school got a lapt
24、op computer. Students, teachers and parents used those tools such as a computer to carry on the study and exchanges, obtaining good effect.
